Open Football Trials are determined by a football club that allows and invites players to direct an application for trials in any format. Open Trial is determined by clubs that actively invite players to openly apply for a trial by asking them to send a CV or by way of allowing the average person an avenue to apply for a trial.

An open trial is not defined as a club that holds trials and anyone can just turn up. This is not feasible due to insurance an controlling numbers. Thousands of players turning up on a particular day is not productive so asking players to make an enquiry then arrange trials or watch players in an open trial. Open Trial can also take place at the clubs facilities or any facility.
